Star Trek: The Original Series / The Next Generation – Which is the Superior Trek?

l go with the original without a doubt – still many others believe that I am wrong and say that Next Generation is the better of the two. What do YOU think?

  1. πŸ’œ I Guess Time Heals ALL Wounds EveryOne; personally I found TOS SomeWhat Cheesy, Contrived and Sexist, Same Goes for The Early Episodes of TNG which later became More Polished, Gender Inclusive and THOUGHTFUL!!! which is ironic really…because I HATE!!! DS9 for its Philosophic Approach, Voyager is My Favourite; a Big Thumbs Up for Captain Katherine and HER!!! Crew, Go Goddess and Go Away My Mommy Issues

  2. DS9 is the best, but of the 2 options TOS was my all-time fave show until TNG came along and got really good in later seasons, and then until DS9 came along. Picard has added to TNG I feel, because the whole preachy “Holier Than Thou” approach has dated as much as the 60’s eps penchant for interfering – Picard underlines that there’s no such thing as eternal utopia for all where human beings are concerned, and acknowledges humility and the willingness to admit mistakes is a thing. They are all product of their times, so ultimately pick and choose the best stories from all of them!

  3. I see the merits in both so I can’t say one is better. The original has its retro charm, of course, but I also like the evolution of the production and characters in TNG. They both are excellent, just in different ways. And of course, TNG had Data, one of my favorite TV characters ever in life. πŸ™‚

  4. The original has a special something, leaning towards that one. However, TNG is well written and acted out, I very much like that one, but not Voyager or DS9. Mr. Roddenberry had spoken good things. I wouldn’t doubt that every gadget he thought of wouldn’t be proven possible.

  5. do you want to start a war between trekkies?
it is like to say who is the best captain between Kirk and Picard
the TOS was a crude diamond and The next generation was the polished result
but TOS was open to a lot of possibilities and TNG was limited by its origin
both are good but for old timers like me we fell in love with TOS but younger ones who see a lot of syfy TNG was more appealing
so the older one had fallen in love with the mother series and the younger ones fell in love with the daughters series ??
me i just love syfy but when i was young we had no a lot of choices: Startrek or Lost in space so Startrek had more action and good actors play
it was before 2001 a space odyssey and far far away before Starwars πŸ™‚
so i am bi : TOS and TNG

  6. Star Trek: The Next Generation quite intentionally succeeded in ways that the classic Trek obvious couldn’t. The 60s were a time when viewer expectations for television got in the way of what Gene Roddenberry fully wanted for Trek. But Picard’s era made great amends for that. πŸ––πŸ»πŸ––πŸΌπŸ––πŸ½πŸ––πŸΎπŸ––πŸΏ
